Policy
Cancellation policy
One universal cancellation policy applies to every booking on Salabókun. Here is what gets refunded, when, and how special cases are handled.
Refunds when a guest cancels
If a guest cancels a confirmed booking, the refund depends on how many whole days remain from the cancellation to the event, in Icelandic time. The same table applies to every venue:
| Window | Guest refund |
|---|---|
| More than 30 days before the event | Full refund minus the booking fee (10% of the total, minimum ISK 2,000) |
| 11 to 30 days before the event | 50% of the total |
| 10 days or later | No refund |
Booking fee and service fee
The booking fee (10% of the total, minimum ISK 2,000) and Salabókun's service fee are non-refundable. Salabókun's share is never below ISK 2,000, including on completed bookings.
Host cancellation
If the host cancels a confirmed booking, the guest receives a full refund, including all fees, regardless of the table above. Repeated host cancellations lead to a review of the host's account.
Date changes
Salabókun does not currently offer moving a booking to a new date in the system. If a date needs to change, the booking is cancelled per the table and a new booking made, or the matter is resolved with Salabókun support.
Force majeure
If an event cannot be held due to circumstances beyond anyone's control (natural disasters, volcanic eruptions, government closures and similar cases), Salabókun and the host may deviate from the table and refund beyond it.
Additional refunds
Refunds beyond the table are only possible with the approval of Salabókun support. Hosts cannot issue refunds themselves.
When a cancellation counts
A cancellation only counts once it is confirmed through Salabókun. Communication outside the system, such as a phone call or an email straight to the host, is not a cancellation.
Host payout
Funds are held until the rental ends. The host's share is settled the day after the event and generally paid out on the first business day after the rental ends.
